Dear You,
If you’re here, I want to start by saying — I’m really glad you found your way to this space. My name is Megan Spencer. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Resident (LPC-R) in the state of Virginia.
More importantly, I am also a member of the OCD community.
The mission of Touchbase is deeply personal to me.
Years ago, when I received my diagnosis of OCD, I felt lost. I felt lonely. I was struggling to put one foot in front of the other while trying to understand why my mind felt so loud, so relentless, and so overwhelming. Most times, it felt like I was at war with my own thoughts.
Even now, there are moments when living with OCD can still feel isolating. There are moments when the way my mind works feels different from the world around me. But through both my lived experience and my professional training, I have learned something powerful: we are not meant to navigate this alone.
I have used my own experience, alongside evidence-based therapeutic knowledge, to support myself, my clients, and now this community.
And what I continue to see — over and over again — is that connection matters.
We deserve spaces where we can slow down.
We deserve spaces where we can feel understood.
We deserve to touch base with one another.
Living with OCD is not easy. But having someone to write to, to send warm words to, and to receive encouragement from — someone who truly gets it — can soften the edges of that experience.
There is something grounding about handwriting a letter. Something steady about knowing another human sat down, picked up a pen, and thought of you.
Touchbase was created because I know firsthand how heavy this diagnosis can feel — and how powerful even small moments of connection can be.
You are not alone here.
With so much love & warmth,
Megan
